The Kestrel 2000 Pocket Weather Meter is the most elementary temperature and wind monitor in the Kestrel Meter collection. Capable of measuring both wind and temperature, it will capture air temperature or water temperature by simply dipping it in the water at an arms length for 30 seconds. It will NOT get water speed (CFS) in a river.
The 2000 meter takes the minimum amount of data for farmers using Xtendimax, and while it's not the best option before you spray, it is the least expensive and does cover the bare minimum requirements.
Thanks to Kestrel's sensitive Impeller technology, you get accurate wind speed info. Like all Kestrel meters, the waterproof casing (it even floats) allow you to gauge the temperature of water and snow, as well as open air. The Kestrel 2000's backlight allows you to check the weather even in darkness.
Every Kestrel Meter features a large, 1” impeller mounted on a sapphire jewel bearing, which means it starts rotating with the slightest puff of air. This patented impeller is user-replaceable by simply pushing it out with your thumbs, which means it can easily be replaced if it is damaged or worn. The measurements from the wind impeller are taken magnetically. The impeller is not glued or attached to the unit. Because every new impeller is calibrated in a wind tunnel at the USA factory, if your application demands regular calibration, simply pop in a new impeller and the Kestrel Wind Meter is restored to like-new factory calibration standards.
