How Fire Shelters Work
These shelters feature a dual-layer construction. The outer layer is made of aluminum foil bonded to woven silica, reflecting up to 95% of radiant heat. The inner layer, composed of aluminum foil laminated to fiberglass, prevents heat from reradiating to the firefighter inside. The air gap between these layers provides additional insulation, ensuring the firefighter is protected from both radiant and convective heat.
Features and Benefits
The fire shelters are designed for quick and easy deployment, with instructional DVDs available upon request to aid in training. The Regular shelter has a yellow deploy strap, while the Large shelter has an orange strap, making it easy to distinguish between the two sizes. These shelters are built to reflect heat efficiently and provide a crucial air pocket, offering significant protection in life-threatening situations.

Usage Scenarios
Fire shelters should only be deployed when all other escape options are exhausted. Proper training is essential, and firefighters should practice deployment regularly to ensure they can use the shelter effectively under stress. Fire shelters have saved hundreds of lives by providing a breathable space and reflecting intense heat away from the occupant.
