The MSA Cairns® 1836 Traditional Composite Fire Helmet combines the iconic American fire helmet profile with modern comfort, cleanability, fit, and protection features designed for today’s fire service.
Built around a durable fiberglass composite shell, the Cairns 1836 features a low ride height, expanded pivoting ratchet system, removable soft goods, and an impact-cap system designed for structural firefighting. Multiple eye-protection, liner, earlap, front-holder, and reflective-trim configurations allow departments and individual firefighters to select the setup that best fits their requirements.
CERTIFIED STRUCTURAL FIREFIGHTING PROTECTION
Current Cairns 1836 production is designed to meet NFPA 1970 (1971) – 2025 requirements for structural firefighting helmets. Eye and face protection supplied as part of the original compliant helmet assembly is designed to meet applicable NFPA and ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 requirements. Certification may vary by specific configuration and part number.
