Dyn-Optics Model 955 Red Hawk™ Thermal Scanner

The Dyn-Optics Model 955 Red Hawk™ Thermal Scanner is a lightweight, handheld heat-detection tool designed specifically for locating hidden and residual hot spots during wildland firefighting, mop-up, and post-fire inspection.

Unlike a thermal imaging camera, the Red Hawk™ does not require the operator to watch a display. Instead, the scanner produces an audible alarm when heat is detected, with the pitch increasing as the operator moves closer to the heat source. This allows firefighters to remain focused on the area being inspected.

HOW IT WORKS

Hold the Red Hawk™ much like a flashlight and sweep the scanner across the area being inspected. When the scanner detects a hot spot, an audible alarm sounds. The pitch increases as the unit is aimed closer to the heat source, helping the firefighter pinpoint residual heat without looking away from the scene.
